The theatre collects and processes personal information from website visitors, mailing list subscribers, volunteers and hirers. This page describes the information we collect and how we use it. Our Data Protection registration information is given at the bottom of this page.
If you choose to sign up for our occasional mailing list we collect your name and email address to enable us to send emails to you. Before you are completely subscribed you need to respond to a confirmation email — this is to prevent other people being able to sign you up without your consent.
Each email will contain an unsubscription link. We do not sell, disclose or trade our email list. We may occasionally send information on behalf of other organisations when we believe that our subscribers would an interest in that information.

Web site session management
Cookies are set to manage the web session.
Our ticketing partner, Spektrix, set a number of cookies when you visit our site to manage the ticketing process and shopping basket.
We use a self managed analytics system - Piwik - to enable us to analyse the way people use our website and allow us to improve it in the future. This sets a few cookies to enable this. However this information is anonymised and does not allow identification of specific people.
However if you set the Do Not Track setting in your web browser then the analytics system will neither track you across the site, or set cookies
The location page uses Google Maps to provide a map and directions service. Google Maps will set at least 2 cookies in the google.com domain.
Web Server Logs
We do collect web server logs relating to this web site. These logs identify the internet IP address connecting to the site (but not necessarily the specific computer or user), as well as the time of day, the pages requested from the site and any web site link followed to our site (the referer information). This information is processed to give statistics on the number of visitors to the site, the most popular pages and similar information. However we are not able to tie any of this information to specific visitors
We sell tickets through Spektrix. As well as the cookies mentioned above, they collect information that you give as part of the ticket purchasing process, including login information for any account you create on their system.
Some of this information is available to the Joseph Rowntree Theatre - for example if you opt in to email notifications.
Volunteer and Hirer Information
Those that volunteer at the theatre, and people hiring the theatre facilities also provide personal information to the theatre to enable us to contact them; manage their use of the theatre and ensure their health and safety.
For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998, we, The Joseph Rowntree Theatre Limited, are a data controller. In order to process your booking, membership, marketing or other request we need to collect certain personal details from you. These details will include, where applicable, your name and contact details and those of party members, credit/debit card or other payment details and special requirements such as those relating to any disability which may affect your chosen arrangement.

Under the Data Protection Act, we have a legal duty to protect any information collected from you.
As part of the delivery of services and information through this website it may be necessary to process personal information. This information can be held in manual paper files or on computer and it is used to deliver services to you. Any personal data you give us will be used to fulfil your specific request, whether that be to send you a brochure, answer an enquiry, make a booking, process your membership or send you appropriate marketing offers. It will then be stored securely on our database for a reasonable period of time.

Storage of personal data
All details you give us in connection with your booking will be kept securely to enable us to deal with you more efficiently in future. We will only use your name and contact details for marketing purposes (for example sending you a brochure or details of a promotion) if you opt-in at the time of booking or contact, and will never pass on your details to any outside organisations unless you specifically agree to this, or we are required to by law.
If you believe that any of your personal details which we are holding are incorrect or inaccurate please let us know.
You are entitled to ask us (by letter or email) what details of yours are being held or processed by us, for what purposes and to whom they may be or have been disclosed. Please note a fee of up to £10 may be charged for this service.
