Gilbert and Sullivan's satire of Victorian melodrama
Jorvik Gilbert and Sullivan Company
Thursday 19 September to Saturday 21 September 2013
The Baronetcy of Ruddigore has been cursed by a witch. This curse requires each Baronet to commit a crime every day - or die. To escape this dreadful fate, the latest Baronet, Sir Ruthven Murgatroyd, disguises himself as a farmer, Robin Oakapple, and hides away in the small fishing village of Rederring. He falls in love with the beautiful and virtuous Rose Maybud and would ask her to marry him, if he could overcome his shyness – but any plans he has appear doomed when his true identity is revealed.
