York DramaSoc have announced that they have chosen The Joseph Rowntree Theatre in the national fundraising effort, with students up and down the country, to help save theatres who have been hit due to COVID-19

Over the next few weeks there will be a series of weekly challenges that the society are hoping to complete, all of which will be shared on the ‘Students Saving Our Theatres’ Facebook Page.

We’d like to thank the society for thinking about The Joseph Rowntree Theatre. Their support is very much appreciated.

The five-week campaign has been organised by three members of the University of Warwick's drama society: Joshua Baumring-Gledhill, Lucy Chamberlain and Sophie Ling.

Universities in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Coventry, Durham, East Anglia, Edinburgh, Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool, Oxford, Sheffield, St Andrews, Surrey, Swansea and York have already taken part, with other university drama societies inviited to join, which goes live on June 15th.

The organisers are also encouraging students to send videos of themselves performing, which will be edited together into an online scratch broadcast on YouTube.
