Symptom-free Testing

Now that free coronavirus tests are available if you have no symptoms we are recommending that everyone coming into the Joseph Rowntree Theatre carry out tests twice weekly, even if you have been vaccinated.

This would mean taking a test four days and one day before coming into the theatre. You should take a further test every three days whilst attending the theatre (if you are at the theatre for a number of concurrent days), followed by a test one day and four days after your last day at the theatre.

The City of York Council website has lots of information about symptom-free testing

This isn’t as daunting as it sounds.  In York, you can book a test online and choose to attend one of the current six testing sites in York.  The test sites are in the following locations:

  • Foxwood Community Centre
  • University of York
  • York St John University

Or you can order the tests to be delivered to your home for you to complete yourself.

You can also walk into a pharmacy and get a box of seven free of charge for every member of your household.

Through undertaking two tests before attending the theatre you will be supporting us to keep everyone as safe as possible and also contribute to keeping the presence of the virus in the community as low as possible.

If you have coronavirus symptoms, or your symptom free test is positive, then you must self isolate and obtain a PCR test as soon as possible This website has all the details for arranging a PCR test

You must not come to the theatre if you have Coronavirus symptoms or have had a positive test.  Please contact our box office 01904 501935 to and request a refund for the tickets you have purchased.
