The story of Cinderella told through drama and all forms of Dance - ballet, modern jazz, tap, contemporary ballet, street dance and disco.
Victoria Rooke School of Dance and Drama
Saturday 15 October 2016
The story begins with young Ella living happily with her Mother and Father. Everything was perfect until suddenly her mother became ill and died. Everything changed-her father re-married and her new stepmother moved in with her two daughters. Ella was treated like a servant and had to do all the cooking and cleaning. They even changed her name to Cinderella.
Then one day they all received invitations to the Prince’s Fancy Dress Ball. The theme for the Ball was Disney & Fairy Tale Princesses. Cinderella’s stepmother said she could not go to the ball so she was very upset. But a certain Fairy Godmother may have different ideas. Come and see.
Acorn Antiques The Musical
The late Victoria Wood’s hilarious musical version of her award-winning spoof, Acorn Antiques.
York Musical Theatre Company
Tuesday 18 October to Saturday 22 October 2016
The story sees the lives, loves and macaroon adventures of staff in an antiques shop in the fictional town of Manchesterford. When shop after shop on the high street closes, will Miss Babs and Miss Berta keep the business open? Will Mr. Clifford recover from his amnesia and remember who he’s engaged to? Most importantly, will Mrs Overall be able to keep hold of her tea-tray while she tap dances?
This all-singing, all-dancing, all-macarooned spectacular is hilarious, ridiculous and crammed full of missed cues, fumbled entrances and Marigold gloves.
West Side Story
Could it be, yes it could, something's coming, something good…
York Light Youth
Friday 28 October to Saturday 5 November 2016
Brought to you by York Light Youth, West Side Story is the award-winning adaptation of the classic romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet.
Two warring New York City gangs - the American ‘Jets’, led by Riff, and the Puerto Rican ‘Sharks’, led by Bernardo - replace Shakespeare’s feuding families. Their hatred has reached the point where neither can tolerate the other on account of their cultural differences. When Riff's best friend (and former Jet), Tony, and Bernardo's younger sister, Maria, meet at a dance, they instantly fall in love. Maria and Tony begin meeting in secret, planning to run away. In the meantime the Jets challenge the Sharks to a rumble; whoever wins gains control of the streets. Maria sends Tony to stop it, hoping to end the violence, but her plan goes terribly wrong. After this, can Maria and Tony have the happily-ever-after they have dreamed about?
This fantastic show will be performed by the talented young cast of York Light Youth, whose most recent production was Cats in October 2015. Many of our performers from previous shows return, along with some new faces.
