The theatre provides a series of marketing activities to help promote your show, all aimed to work alongside your own marketing activities.

We break our year into three seasons with tickets for each season going on sale together.

*For the first seven days, we provide priority booking for the Friends of the Joseph Rowntree Theatre.
Subject to all information being provided by the copy deadline, your show will be included in our season launch communication.
WEBSITE SHOW PAGE
Every show is given a dedicated show page on the website. This is populated with the text and image you provide when booking. It can be updated with additional information on casting and rehearsals as your show planning progresses. Add "Don't forget to use this show page URL when sending traffic to the website to book tickets."
7,500 copies are produced and printed per season of which 2,500 get posted directly to our mailing list with the balance distributed primarily in the theatre. There is also an online version on the website.
All Session Hires receive a quarter page listing in the Brochure. Upgrades are available to increase the size to a full page listing or a Spotlight double page feature as per the examples below:
As part of your booking confirmation you will need to provide one bold, text free landscape image of high quality. This image will be used across all our marketing activities so it’s important that it is a strong image. Any images that do not meet the requirements may be rejected. Check the full specification here.
As part of our volunteer network we have access to the services of an experienced show production photographer who is happy to come to technical or dress rehearsals to take production images or earlier in your planning to assist with the main show promotion images. Encourage your performers and supporters to follow us. Mention and tag the Joseph Rowntree Theatre in all your posts so we can share this information. Posts with pictures get read twice as often as those without.

POSTERS AND LEAFLETS
REQUIRED: 2x A1 posters for the foyer and outdoor display are required.
OPTIONAL: Leaflets should be A5 or 1/3 A4. (100-200 copies recommended)
Delivery: Box Office is open 10-2 every day except Sunday and when shows are running.
When designing your poster, be sure to include key information, including the box office number for the theatre, and the theatre's website. Why not a QR Code that links directly to our show page?
WEEKLY & BOX OFFICE SPLITS
In addition to the services outlined above, weekly and box office split hirers receive the following marketing support.
A full page listing, which can be upgraded to a spotlight double page feature.
We do a variety of online advertising on google, facebook and instagram to promote the season and individual shows. These have proved to be extremely successful in boosting ticket sales. Specifically your package includes
- Facebook Advert £50 budget three weeks before the show
Should you wish to add to this - you can top up the Ad budget and we will add or extend campaigns accordingly
These services are available to all hirers where not included in their package. They can be booked at the beginning of the season or as ticket sales progress as a way to further boost your show (all prices include VAT):

Spotlight Double Page Feature
Two facing pages in the brochure. Artwork needed for this feature.
A standalone A5 flyer is inserted into the brochure to be handed out at the end of shows. This service is available on a 20-show basis (approx. one month). 600 flyers are recommended for this service and would need to be delivered to the theatre during box office hours.
Bespoke One-Shot Email
Sent 6 weeks before your show date to a targeted data set from the theatre database. Written from data provided by you and sent using the theatre email service.
Bespoke Three-Part Email
First email sent at launch date or 8 weeks before to all previous show/production audience data set.
Second email sent 6 weeks before show data to total theatre database (excluding those who received the first email). Includes a re-mail 5 days' after to non-openers of the email.
Third email reminder sent one week before show date to not booked data set.
Written from data provided by you and sent using the theatre email service.
Facebook & Instagram Ads have proven to be an extremely effective promotion tool to boost tickets sales. We have the services of a specialist digital advertising agency which is a great asset This services is available to hirers, with the hirer paying the Advert cost
New Instagram standalone ads have been producing excellent results. These require a video in order to create it. If you do not have a video, but have a set of strong photoshoot images these can be made into a reel.
The latest we can take bookings is as follows:
- Brochure is the copy deadline (see Season Launch section)
- Email 8 weeks before the show
- Facebook, Instagram ads 4 weeks before the show
