Update from the trustees of the Joseph Rowntree Theatre

Everyone at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre hopes you are keeping safe and well at this difficult time.

Since the theatre closed along with all other theatres, we have been busy working behind the scenes to reschedule or cancel the planned productions.  All the productions from 16 March through until early July are either being cancelled or rescheduled.

Our team of box office volunteers have started the process of contacting all ticket holders for shows that have been affected by the closure  to provide refunds or exchanges for the rescheduled events. We thank you for your patience while you wait to hear from us.

The Joseph Rowntree Theatre is a community venue and we are asking customers if they would consider supporting the theatre and the groups that use the theatre.

Support can be in a number of ways:

  • Having a credit on your box office account, rather than the payment refunded, which can be used on any future event.

  • Donating all or a part of your ticket money to the theatre so we can support the community groups.

We are grateful for the generosity of our audiences providing additional support in these challenging times.

We hope we will be able to reopen the theatre in the near future and we look forward to welcoming everyone back into the theatre to enjoy all the fantastic community productions.

Thank you for your support

Dan Shrimpton
