Jamie New is a sixteen-year-old who doesn’t quite fit in. He’s terrified about the future and has no interest in pursuing a traditional career. He wants to be a drag queen. He knows he can be a sensation. With support from his brilliant and loving mum and encouragement from his friends, Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies and steps out of the darkness, into the spotlight.

Ever since I saw the original BBC documentary and the first production about Jamie at the Crucible in Sheffield, I fell in love with the wonderful true story, the incredible pop based songs and the fabulous characters. The story resonates so strongly with those of us who celebrate being who we are!!! Everybody will certainly be talking about Harvey Stevens as he brings Jamie to life in the York premiere of this most moving and flamboyant musical.
