In the coastal town of Folkestone, Arthur Kipps knows there’s more to life than his demanding but unrewarding job as an apprentice draper. When he suddenly inherits a considerable fortune, Kipps finds himself thrown into a world of upper class soirées and strict rules of etiquette that he barely understands. Torn between the affections of the kind but proper Helen and his childhood sweetheart Ann, Kipps must determine whether a simple soul like his can truly find a place in high society.
