While it cannot proceed in the traditional sense, West End Live 2020 is to celebrate the best of the West End with two highlights programmes featuring performances from the last five years on 20-21 June through Facebook, along with a host of other online activities.
Both programmes will be captioned and available to watch on the West End Live Facebook page for 24 hours only, with one released on Saturday 20th June and the other on Sunday 21st June. Further information regarding timings is to be released soon.
West End Live 2020 are also working with Sky VIP to create six new and exclusive teaser features of West End shows for their VIP customers in the lead up to the weekend of the 20th and 21st June. The performances will subsequently be made available on their YouTube Channel following what would have been the stagiest weekend of the year.
West End Live is run by Westminster Council and the Society of London Theatre and has established itself over the years as a highlight of the theatrical year. It is a unique event for a world capital and one that provides a brilliant free taster of wonderful shows and an introduction into the wider West End for tens of thousands of visitors who go on to enjoy shops, restaurants, and other attractions.
We can't go out so we're not spending money on things like coffee and cakes, glass of wine or beer, and generally eating out and socialising.
Why not pop the money you’ve saved on some of these things into a jar and put it towards the Raise the Roof appeal. If we ask friends and family to do the same we could raise a reasonable amount of money for the appeal.
Even if we only put a couple of pounds a week away it would all add up. What do you think - shall we give it a go? It would be great if once our wonderful theatre can reopen we have lots of jars of money to hand over!
