Back in time for Christmas!

Back in time for Christmas!

posted 16 Nov 2020

After a challenging year for us all, many people are turning their thoughts to Christmas shopping for gifts, decorations and food.

Thankfully, the York Virtual High Street has opened again, just in time for the season,

They've put together some Christmas collections for you to enjoy. Make sure you check out the Christmas menu on their website, with trees, wreaths and even special Christmas 'themed' items, like a special edition York Gin flavoured like Terry's Chocolate Orange, which used to be made at Terry's chocolate factory here in York!

Shop Local This Christmas!

The high streets and city centres have been under threat for a long time with the advancement of online shopping giants like Amazon, but the COVID19 global pandemic has seen shops struggle like never before with lockdowns and collapsing footfall.

Buy online through the York High Street website and your spending goes directly to the retailers as the organisation is run by volunteers as a non-profit company. You can add a tip to your order when you checkout to help cover the site running costs and marketing.

Together we are stronger, and together we can fight back against the online giants, protecting our city centre and shopping streets for years to come.

HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT YOUR THEATRE?

Every penny helps the Joseph Rowntree Theatre throughout these uncertain times. While we are not as free to go out and spend money on things like coffee and cakes, glass of wine or beer, and generally eating out and socialising, why not donate the money you’ve saved to support our community theatre. Even if we only put a couple of pounds a week away it would all add up and make a massive difference.
