The Flying Ducks Youth Theatre performed its first production Is That My Line? with a cast of 24 on 1 May 1996 at Haxby and Wigginton Methodist Church and since then continued to build a reputation for lively and entertaining musical theatre. Its latest production, Bugsy Malone, took the stage at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre in March 2016.
Our group is based in Haxby, York and currently has a membership of 40 young people, a combination of both Ducklings (up to around 12yrs) and Flying Ducks (12-18yrs). Our aim is to advance the education of young people in the appreciation and practice of drama and the performing arts. There is a great community appreciation within the local area as children and parents get involved with all aspects of the show, from being on stage, to costume and publicity, to help make well-deserved refreshments during rehearsals. Putting on an annual show is obviously the most important aim for the youth group but with this we hope to introduce you to new skills and techniques across acting, singing and dancing. It will help you build confidence as well as having fun with friends and meeting new ones!
