York Light Opera Company was formed in 1953 and we have performed at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre every year since 1957. Our very first show at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre was the Richard Tauber musical Old Chelsea.
We generally perform at least two shows a year. The company takes great pride in continuing its tradition of bringing brand-new musicals to York audiences as well as breathing new life into old favourites.
