posted 02 Nov 2020

In light of recent events, The Shows Must Go On! YouTube series has annouced that it will start presenting not one, but two shows as week, starting from next week (w/c 02/11/20).

The first show will become available on Monday, and be available for seven days. The first offering begins with a play led by Simon Callow, Being Shakespeare. The Callow play will knock off a new Shakespeare season, featuring the likes of Fiona Shaw, Patrick Stewart and more.

Friday's offering, a West End musical, will be revealed on Wednesday and as previously, be available for 48 hours.

While the series remains free to all, donations are actively encouraging to help the theatre community during the ongoing pandemic.

This is the message released via The Show Must Go On! YouTube channel:

Starting this coming Monday The Shows Must Go On! YouTube channel will be broadcasting a new show every Monday AND Friday. This Monday (2 November) marks the beginning of the ‘Shakespeare Season', showing a new Shakespeare production every Monday night for the next four weeks. The Season kicks off with Being Shakespeare starring Simon Callow, premiering Monday 2nd November 19:00 GMT, available for 7 days.

Previous offers have been Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat so this is a series to keep an eye on.

Like all theatres into the arts industry, the ongoing pandemic has dramatically affected the Joseph Rowntree Theatre's funds that allow us to improve and expand the facilities available at our art deco community theatre. We are running a number of fundraising events throughout the pandemic so be sure to sign up to our newsletter for all the latest and you can support the theatre by donating to the Raise the Roof appeal
