Our Stage Managers and Stage Crew volunteer at weekends during the hours of 10am and 10pm and weekday evenings 6pm to 10pm.
We are seeking volunteers to work alongside our existing stage managers to support the set up and running of our shows. Each show operates with two stage managers so there is plenty of opportunity to work with experienced stage managers and learn new skills from one another.
Our stage managers work on a rota basis covering whole or part of a particular production, availability on a Sunday is ideal as that is when our large productions set up. The schedule for cover is agreed at least a month in advance so you can plan when you are volunteering.
In addition to managing the production one of the two stage managers will usually plan and operate the stage lighting system during the show, on the job training on the lighting board and setting up lights will be provided.
There are several backstage roles including helping build and prepare the show as well as flying scenery.
We are particularly interested in volunteers who can help on Sunday’s from 10am to 2pm to support with setting up productions.
Our followspot operators highlight cast performances from their position in the theatre roofspace.
Volunteers should be 18 years of age or over, volunteer opportunities for people aged between the ages of 16 and 18 are available but the activities are limited to followspot operator.
No experience is needed as we will train and support you to ensure you are confident in carrying out all necessary activities. Whether you can donate one evening or a series of evenings in a week, the stage crew team work together to ensure the smooth running of all productions.
