Theatre on your Doorstep meets Theatre on your Desktop as Badapple Theatre's creative team perform some of their best loved plays for radio.
Badapple Theatre secured emergency funding from Arts Council England to develop a new podcast series after the cancellation of their spring tour as the pandemic took hold.
The company were about to mark their 21st year touring rural venues across the UK with a new production, Elephant Rock.
The funding will also be used to adapt a number of their previous plays into podcast series as well as commissioning three new short plays they hope will resonate with the company’s core rural audiences.
“Our audiences are always at the heart of what we do and we hope this will find new ways for us to connect with and support them and our partner creatives,” says Artistic Director Kate Bramley.
“We also recognise that the skills learned and outcomes of this ‘pilot’ could re-define the way we work more successfully over the coming decade. The project will provide work to a number of Yorkshire based freelance actors, writers and professionals and funding will also be used to provide virtual sessions to the company’s Youth Theatre groups.”
There is already plenty to choose from on the company's website, including Suffer Fools Glady by Danny Mellor, Togetherness by Richard Kay and a five-part series of The Carlton Colliers.
