Melody, winner of the 2022 Yorkshire’s Got Talent competition, talks to us about her love of singing
JRT. How long have you been singing?
Melody: Literally all my life.
JRT. When did you start performing?
Melody: I was in a school band at 14 years old and have been performing in bands ever since. I’m now 37 so that’s……. a lot of years!
JRT. Why did you decide to enter the YGT competition?
Melody: I thought that if I was lucky enough to win, I could use the money to produce an EP to help raise awareness of mental health and suicide prevention for The Jordan Legacy charity.
JRT. What music artists inspire you?
Melody: Stevie Wonder, Jessie Jay, Kate Rusby, Whitney Houston, Tori Kelly, Joss Stone… A wide diverse range of artists to be honest. I really do watch how people sing and admire how passionate they are when performing.
JRT. What do you hope to do after the YGT Live show?
Melody: Record my EP as soon as possible and continue performing for as long as I can.
