June is a big month for the Joseph Rowntree Theatre as we celebrate our 90th anniversary with a packed programme of music, drama, and community events.
Things kick off with a Tenpin Bowling Fundraiser on June 3rd - a perfect chance to support the theatre while enjoying a night of friendly competition. Then enjoy a nostalgic tribute night on June 13th with The Searchers & Hollies Experience, a tribute to two iconic bands of the '60s, and on June 14th, York’s own Shepherd Brass Band presents their uplifting Spring Concert. The celebrations peak with the 90th Anniversary Ball on June 21st at The Milner Hotel; a black-tie evening including dinner, live music and a charity auction. And rounding off the month is the "best Irish band never to come from Ireland", One Night in Dublin on June 22nd, and a youth production of Guys & Dolls from Be Amazing Arts on June 28th–29th.
Whether you're a theatre regular or a first-time visitor, take your pick and celebrate the start of summer with an incredible night (or two) of entertainment.

Guys & Dolls
Be Amazing Arts
Thu 26 - Sat 28 June
Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, Guys & Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town with the authorities breathing down his neck, while his girlfriend and nightclub performer Adelaide, laments that they've been engaged for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler Sky Masterson for the dough, but Sky is already preoccupied, chasing the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown. Guys & Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.
