The stage is set, but it's also wet!

The Joseph Rowntree Theatre’s roofs are in urgent need of replacing and water is seeping into the very fabric of our beautiful Grade II listed building. Recent heavy rain has reached the side of the stage and buckets are being used to catch the water in the foyer.

Our Raise the Roof appeal, launched earlier this year to raise money towards the cost of this now urgently needed roof replacement work, has almost reached the halfway mark, but we still need to raise £55,000 do this work can be done.

There are many ways people can get involved, Buy a Tile or just give a straight donation to our Raise the Roof appeal. Click here to find out more.

You can also take part in our Grand Christmas Raffle, with a chance to win lots of super prizes. At just £1.00 a ticket or £10.00 for a book, tickets are on sale at the theatre during every performance or from our online Just Giving Page.

Dan Shrimpton, chair of the theatre’s board of trustees, said: “We now have the long-awaited planning permission required to enable us to do this repair work, but we still need to raise more money.  Please help us to ensure that our theatre is watertight so that we can continue to entertain and host performers for many years to come.”
