In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a team of volunteers have recreated the city centre economy in virtual form, connecting local shoppers with local businesses in order to protect the local high street.
People can sign up as a shopper and, in doing so, will receive regular newsletters with special offers, promoted shops and products, prize draws and more. This is all in aid of supporting and protecting local businesses, and encourage residents to spend their money locally, rather than going to online giants like Amazon.
Purchases can be made through the York High Street website, with local drop offs being the default delivery option. If an item needs posting, the seller will be in touch and will be clearly stated on the product description. Drop off deliveries are made without contact with customers, so be prepared for items to be placed on the doorstep and for the person delivering the item to remain 2 metres away when you answer the door.
It is important, now more than ever, to support local businesses and protect the local high street throughout this crisis. Show your support for the local community and check out what they have to offer.

You'll be surprised how much is going on in our virtual theatre - plays, opera, festivals, musicals - from local to international - don't miss out.
