In just one week since the Raise the Roof music video was launched, we have raised £2,000. It’s a great start to the Raise the Roof appeal which has been set up to help secure the future of our theatre, so that we may continue to operate and expand as an important community asset for York.

The music video of the song, ‘Up on the Roof’, was recorded by the artists at home during lockdown and was put together by Jess Douglas and Ollie Nash. If you haven’t already seen it, take a look now.

Hot on the heels of this first step there are several ways you can join the party - here are details of just two of the many events that have been inspired by the video:

Zoom Dance Class

Hannah King, a local dance instructor, is organising an online dance class via Zoom this Saturday at 10am (27th June) to raise money for our appeal.  The online class costs just £3 and will be based on songs from the musicals. Come and join in what is sure to be great lockdown fun, all the while raising money for our theatre.

Yorkshire’s Got Talent

Another of our supporters, Hannah Wakelam, is running a Yorkshire’s Got Talent competition to raise money for the appeal. If lockdown and social distancing have left you despairing of when you can next perform on stage, then this is for you. Enter the competition and show us just how talented you, our supporters are.
